What I have for baby so far…

For the last couple of months I have been collecting some things for our baby. I have to admit that it is hard to restrain yourself once you start though!

I started out by buying some gender neutral cot sheets and swaddling wraps from Kmart which are pretty cute and not so expensive so if they get wrecked with poo and vomit its not really a big deal.IMG_3253IMG_3252

After we found out our bub was a boy I was free to get some pretty cute boys stuff.

I have both new and pre-loved clothes because I am not too fussed with name brand things and to be honest we can’t really afford to pay upwards of $20 for a onesie. I was lucky enough to buy a bulk lot of size 00 clothes for around $15 and most of the pieces are Pumpkin Patch which are on the higher end for babies clothes.

I would definitely recommend popping on to Ebay, Gumtree, or even Facebook for some really great second hand buys. We bought our cot, change table, some clothes and bed linen all on Ebay and have had no issues yet with the quality of the goods.

The new store bought items (with tags on) are mainly from Big W, Best and Less, Kmart and Target. My mum assures me that when the baby is born that he will be showered with lots of clothes and toys so I am trying not to go too crazy. I am also not buying any clothes smaller that 000. I will wait until after he is born to see if he is a giant like his Daddy, although I was bigger than him when I was born…I was 10 pounds 10 ounces. Yep. My mum deserves a medal for pushing me out of her Va-jay-jay. My husband is over 6 ft tall so I am expecting a large baby unfortunately. I have bought some t-shirts and pjs in larger sizes as well, which I happy to store until he grows into them. I am basically just grabbing things I see and love or that are too cheap not to get. Here are some cute socks in various sizes.

I love this blanket from Target. We are thinking of having a sky theme for his room so the hot air balloons will fit it nicely. Hubby and I are thinking of painting a mural on one of the walls with clouds, a rainbow, some planes etc.

My mother in law bought me a pack of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ flannel wraps which are just the cutest! I am pretty sure she got them from Target if you were wondering.

Now onto toiletries for baby and mum…

I have heard that the gel discs help a lot to keep the nipples soothed between feeds so I am willing to give them a try. I grabbed some disposable change mats for my nappy bag and some scented nappy bags to mask the smell of poop.

I also got some obligatory baby powder for after changes or bath time. I have heard that Johnson’s isn’t the best brand for baby care but I can’t see anything wrong with baby powder so I’m happy to at least try it. I picked up a value pack of wipes from Coles for about $10 so we won’t have to worry about running out in the first month or two (I have no idea how many you go through). And finally I got some maternity pads. These were on special buy one get one free so I thought ‘What the heck’ and picked some up.

I haven’t bought any nappies yet because I have no idea where to start, there are so many brands and varying a lot in price. I think I want to do some research before stocking up.

And finally, a night light for the bathroom so I don’t trip over or bang my bump on anything, and after the baby is born I might keep it in the bathroom or move it to the hallway so I don’t wake hubby searching for the light switch in the middle of the night. This one plugs straight into the wall and has a sensor so it automatically turns off when it senses light.

I am sure there is plenty more to buy, but for now, thats about it!

    1. There is nothing wrong with second hand! We are buying our pram and car capsule new but I prefer they be safe and new as I have heard of some bad things happening with outdated prams. Anywho…Thanks for your comments!! 🙂
